Fun Times at Irish Times

Much fun was had by all at the Irish Times Pub. Behind the pub is a darling little cottage that is rented out for private events. It is decorated to look like a real Irish home with an authentic cobblestone floor, antique furniture and art work. When I arrived to set up Myriam Veras, the manager , was there to greet me. She is a fantastic gal who helped the event hostess,Laura, work out the details of her parents 30th. wedding anniversary.Myriam and her helper made all feel welcome and comfortable. The food was fantastic and everyone enjoyed the dessert buffet provided by yours truly. Because we were in an Irish Pub I supplied appropriate desserts.

Keeping the rest of the catering going while we made cake pops ( Laura and Sarah ) ....Assembly and distribution ( Kim, Sarah ,Jen and Laura )  It was a lot of hard work and fun ( OK we DID have a moment at 10:30 one night when we felt the group to be dipped was not going down and the hearts  to be made were endless !!!!)   It was a beautiful sight when they were all lined up on the tables ready to be picked up !!!  It was great to hear the compliments as the baskets were picked up and even better to get the calls later about how tasty they were !

Gee we only have 11 1/2 months to recover   !!

Have a Heart on Valentines Day

So...it's getting closer to Valentines Day ...the day when we tell those we love how much we care. As you saw I spend part of my day keeping a journal about people and things I'm grateful for. I'm particularly grateful this week for Dr. Brownlie. She had an open house and I was able to make savory items in addition to sweets. This gave me the opportunity to meet a new group of people and show my cocktail party / open house side ! I made crostini  spread with Bulgarian Feta topped with artichoke heart, kalamata olives and capers.  Wild mushroom,Neuske Bacon and Vidalia Onion tarts baked in a buttery melt in your mouth crust.Mini k bobs with Volpi dry sausage, Tortellini marinated with balsamic vinegar, basil and oregano and topped with Parmesan Cheese and grape tomatoes   Toast topped with Mascarpone cheese whipped with fresh grated nutmeg topped with ginger poached pears and sprinkled with fresh chopped walnuts. On the sweet side we had Red Velvet Whoopie Pies filled with cream cheese frosting , Coconut Macaroons drizzled with chocolate ( for Abby ) and Heart Shaped Raspberry Linzer cookies. I also handed out Cake Pop Samples.

So ... This where I get back to Having a Heart on Valentines Day. With the economy being what it is people who were on the top a few years ago are now going to the food pantry for help. They are not going to have the same Valentines Day you and I are.Instead of boxes of chocolate they are looking forward to boxes of macaroni and cheese.  When these same people left their homes they also left the pets they love behind. These members of their family were dropped off at a shelter or ,worse, left in abandoned homes  hoping a Realtor would find them. In a spirit of thankfulness for all I have been given I would like to give back. At Dr. Brownlie's I met a group of fantastic gals from St.Francis Food Pantry . They give their time two days a week and feed 80 families a week. Cat Nap from the Heart has taken in many of these people's pets. Not just cats but birds, bunnies, and hamsters. When you place an order mention St. Francis or Catnap and  I will contribute 10 % of the first item and 15 % of the rest of the items thru March 1st.This is a way for you and I to share the love with some folks and the pets they love.

Thanks Bre for creating the fantastic Valentines Day Postcards and taking all the great pictures !!
Thanks to my old friends at Cat Nap and my new friends at St. Francis Food Pantry for all the hard work they do !!
Thanks to all the folks who chose me to provide their Valentines Day treats !!
Thanks Dr. Brownlie and Abby for letting me shine at your event !!

Thanks friends, customers and family for all of your support. I look forward to seeing all of you who have placed an order for Valentines day !!!

Valentines Day and the People I am grateful for

Last Sunday I invited the gals from LaBelle to consume the samples from my Valentines Day photo shoot. We had a fantastic time reminiscing, getting caught up and swapping catering war stories ! Plenty happens behind the scenes ( we hope ) you will never know about. Power outages, blizzards, extra guests, food you thought you requested but didn't, event time changes, rain flooded tents, working out of unheated or unairconditioned garages, rain flooded tents, out of control dogs, broken ovens, ...... the list is endless( did I mention rain flooded tents ??? )  Somehow we always seem to make it work.. usually without the guests knowing a thing and having a fantastic time !

As the snow piles up and the sky is gloomy happily we have something cheerful to look forward to VALENTINES DAY !! Whether you have a one true love, a child you love, a parent to cherish , a work pal to appreciate or  best friends for xx years Valentines Day is the day to remember them ..I keep a gratitude journal in my car and as I'm driving along at the end of the day I like to turn off the radio and think about all the great things that have happened to me and the fantastic people who have touched my life that day...granted some days I have to stretch ( see list above ..OK this is the LAST time I mention rain filled tents !!!) I somehow know that I will be blessed on a constant basis by wonderful people. They deserve a little bit of love too. My list consists of my close friends,my accountant(boy is SHE a Good friend !),my boys and their fantastic girl friends  my brother and sister, my mom,my sister-in-law and niece, my cousins,my boss, the gals I work with,my neighbor,my chiropractor & assistant, the gal who is KIND enough to walk my moms dog,the gal who cares for my mom and keeps us organized, my FANTASTIC customers, the table and chair guys,my mechanic, the HH housekeeper, snowplow guy,W.D.and many more.   Take the time to make your own list of people who love ,support and care for you. Maybe you can start your own gratitude journal and when you are down or stressed you can take a minute to flip through the pages and remind yourself how lucky and blessed  you really are.
I have created some gifts to show the people in your life how much you care for them.
